How To Prepare Your Outdoor Living Space For Fall 2021

11

The fall season is one of the best times of the year for outdoor living. While there’s nothing quite like the beautiful fall foliage and crisp cool air, the arrival of the fall season brings with it a variety of maintenance and preparation tasks that every homeowner needs to be aware of.

Preparing your outdoor kitchen and living space is essential to maintaining the quality of your backyard space, as well as increasing the longevity of your outdoor amenities. While the fall season marks the last months of outdoor living (before the winter snowfalls!), it also marks the perfect time to conduct some routine maintenance checks.

To make sure your outdoor living space is prepared for this fall season, here are some of our favourite outdoor living maintenance tips and tricks. These tips are essential to ensuring your outdoor living activities are the best they can be this fall, as well as ensuring the quality of your outdoor amenities, furniture, and equipment are maintained for years to come!

Sweep Up Your Living Space

Sweeping up any debris and dirt around your outdoor living space can make all the difference when it comes to extending the lifespan and condition of your outdoor living furniture, equipment, and the atmosphere itself

While they might not seem like that big of a deal, when neglected, tiny rocks and dirt build-up can turn out to become your greatest enemy, capable of scratching and leaving hundreds and tiny micro-abrasions across your outdoor appliances and furniture (and trust us, these tiny imperfects turn into a nightmare as they slowly build up!). So while it might seem like a mundane chore, a quick sweep every now and then can make all the difference!

Wipe Down Your Outdoor Appliances

There’s no better time to give your outdoor appliances and amenities a good ol’ wipedown than during your fall season maintenance checkup. While you should always be wiping down your outdoor kitchen and equipment after every use, now is the perfect time to really scrub into the grease and muck that may have been building up. Moreover, be sure to sanitize and disinfect any dirty surfaces that typically lack the routine TLOC they deserve.

There are a number of great grill cleaning detergents and tools to help put the sparkle and shine back into your outdoor equipment. Nonetheless, always be sure to conduct your own research on whichever chemicals or cleaning solutions you intend to use on any cooking surfaces for your outdoor kitchen.

Check Up On Your Plumbing

There’s nothing better than the sound of deep conversations and laugher as your closest friends and family gather together for an outdoor dinner — but there is something worse. As the temperatures continue to drop lower and lower throughout the fall season, the risks of plumbing problems increase.

While there’s no need to disconnect your gas lines just yet, conducting some maintenance and quick examinations on the state of your plumbing can save your wallet from a hefty payout during the much colder winter seasons. At below-freezing temperatures, your pipelines are at risk of freezing and bursting, especially if they’re not well maintained. While we’ll get into winterizing your outdoor kitchen and living space in another article, for now, do yourself a favour by giving your outdoor appliances a quick checkup!
